How is a system broken down by System Engineering ?
The system is included in a super system.
It is composed of different interface systems. They communicate, interact, and demand a service from the system.
This interface system can be composed of enabling systems. Both systems need each other to exist, to be maintained in operational condition, etc …
This interface systems and enabling systems exchange services between them via interfaces To execute Function thanks to a Physical link carrying Data flow or Material flow or an Energy flow.
They are composed of subsystems or components.
Stakeholders are people or organisations who describe systems’ needs and they interact with the system during its life cycle.
How to describe the system based on System Engineering ?
The system fulfills one or several purposes, missions and quantifiable targets.
During its life cycle, the system evolves following operational contexts. The contexts diagram represents flows between the system and interface systems.
Each context is broken down into operational modes. The system can move between the different modes thanks to transitions.
Each operational mode is broken down into an operational scenario. The operational scenario describes the process to follow in a particular mode.
