Hello and welcome to our blog which is all about the RICA IV !
The RICA IV (Robot d’Investigation en Cellule Aveugle) is, as its name shows, a robot designed to investigate blind cells. Due to the high level of radiation these operations must be carried out using remote-controlled equipment. The CEA (Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives) has entrusted us to perform and imagine a new way to investigate those cells with remote-controlled operations. The first step started with an inventory of the main physical characteristics, constraints, nature of remote operations to perform and imagining the machines necessary to complete the tasks at hand. A further step has seen the designing of these specialized machines.
To complete this task successfully, we were split in two groups. Each team will design their own robot, and, in February 2020, we will demonstrate how are working our robots to the CEA.
The first team on the upside is composed by (left to right): Agathe, Cyril, Lionel, Samir, Grégoire, Erwan, Léa, Johan, Florian, Mélanie and Tom. They are working on a robot with modular tracks and movable gravity center.
The second team on the downside is formed by (left to right): Pascal, Anais, Lucas, Clémence, Clément, Rémi (behind), Yannis, Jean, Olivier, Guillaume and Karla. They will develop a robot inspired by living form. Indeed, the robot will use 4 legs like a dog.
Wish us luck and may the odds be in our favour !
This blog is about their adventure and their stories. Enjoy!
